Poems for a Mom
These are poems for a mom. Send them to your mom or get inspired and write your own!
These poems were written for my mother, Dr. Kitty David, who is such a powerful influence in my life. She has always encouraged us, her three children, to appreciate the little things that make life special. She points out a mountain sunset, exclaims with delight at a green field, and enjoys the beauty of flowers growing wild. Her happy laughter rings out and chases away gloom. She has a special way with people which makes them confide in her their deepest worries and fears. She writes letters and cards to encourage and keep in touch with people and bring sunshine into their lives. Her positive attitude and faith in God makes her a powerful shoulder to lean on. She's my amazing Mum!

Amazing Mom
You pick me up when I'm feeling down
You pick up all the others, too
You just spread good cheer all around
Mom - what would I do without you!
Your faith's rock-steady in times of doubt
your prayers work miracles, too
Your strength helps create a turnabout
Mom -- what would I do without you!
You scamper here, there and everywhere
Visiting people who need you
Your letters show that you really care
Mom - what would I do without you!
You're truly amazing, sweet mother of mine
You're so young at heart and I love you
May God shower on you His blessings divine
Happy birthday, Mom, to you!

Mom is a Word for…
Mom is a word for
cuddles and kisses
whether or not I deserve 'em
Mom is a word for
picnics and singsongs
and bright happy sunshine and laughter
Mum is a word for
letters and wishes
whether I'm up or I'm down;
Mom is a word for
loving and giving…
Yes, Mom is a word for YOU!

For Mum, because…
Because you make little things mean such a lot
Because you think of what you've got, not what you've not
Because wealth and fortune matter not a jot,
You're someone special.
Because you bring hope when things look bad
Because you turn sad into glad
Because you don't let folks go away mad
You're someone special.
Because you bring a smile to my face
Because no-one else can take your place
Because you give us all our space,
You're someone special.

My own dear Mum
You're everybody's mummy
And everybody's aunt
And everybody's granny
And everybody's friend;
You're everybody's someone
And you're my own dear Mum!
It doesn't take much to please you
Just little things will do…
A bunch of flowers, a sunset,
A carpet of green drenched with dew…
You always wear a sunny smile
That spreads good cheer across the miles.
So on your birthday, Mummy dear
I want to say to you
You're someone very special
There's no-one quite like you.
You maybe everyone's someone,
But you're MY OWN DEAR MUM!

Best of all Mum
You know what I like about you best of all?
Your smile.
The twinkle in your eye
The ability to say "ho-ho-ho"
No matter what the situation is...
Your outrageous sense of merriment,
Your "catch-the-smile-and-pass-it-on" humour
That makes me laugh out loud despite my solemn resolutions.
You know what I like about you best of all?
Your voice.
Now gentle, now mild,
Now firm, though kind,
Now livening up a sleepy car ride with a bouncy little song,
Now telling a story where the characters come to life,
Now giving a piece of sage advice
that echoes down the years...
Now uplifted in prayer or soothing little fears.
You know what I like about you best of all?
Your strength.
You're a shoulder to lean on in trouble or doubt,
In times of stress, folks naturally pour out their fears.
For the old or the sick, you're a rock of strength,
Your counsel is sought both as doctor and friend.
You know what I like about you best of all?
Your faith.
Your telepathic reaching out to people in need,
Your strong faith in God that's inspiring indeed.
You create a bond between people in prayer,
Your life is an example of "service in doing".
You know what I like about you best of all?
Your love.
You believe in sharing whatever you have
Your time, your talent, your counsel and skill,
Your "family" is growing, year by year,
Your friends make a never-ending list.
Yes, it's all these things that make you so special,
Unique, individual, one-of-a-kind;
So loving and giving, we've just got to share you,
And sometimes so busy, we just can't get NEAR you...
But mother, you know why I love you best of all?
I love you because you're you.
