Dad Poem
To Dad with Love
by Trixie Asirvatham
Wish I could be closer
though I am miles away,
As every minute passes,
and passes every day
The time goes by and I am left
with nothing much to show,
Nothing I have done for you,
for all you've done for me.
When I was fractious, you've been patient,
When I was stubborn, kind
When I was thoughtless, you've been gentle,
Judging with your heart and not your mind…
So many little things you've done
Though your advice I used to shun --
When I grew older, I realised
The value of your wisdom prized.
So on your birthday, Daddy dear
I want to tell you what you don't always hear
I love you, I know what a great guy you are,
You're a gem among Dads, you're a shining star.
May God bless and keep you in His care,
As you travel here, there and everywhere,
May He shield and protect you wherever you are,
Is my wish for you, whether near or far.
